Important:

– Accommodation conditions (guest house, yurt and homestays) are basic – nomad way, outside shared toilet and bathroom.

– The weather is cold at beginning of September, so please take your warm clothes, waterproof jackets and comfortable shoes for trekking.

– Own Medicine for headache and stomach;

– Money. You can take USD or EUR. In money exchange places in Bishkek, you can change to KGS (som – a local currency) both of them.

We reserve the right to make incremental changes to the program due to changes in flight arrival times, weather or terrain conditions, availability of places in hotels or guest houses, etc.

Itinerarios

Day 1

Bishkek. Arriving Day

Manas international airport. Transfer to hotel. Resting time. Walking in the city.

Day 2

Bishkek to Son Kul (320 km and about 4.5 hours)

After breakfast transfer to Son Kul Lake, second largest lake after Issyk Kul. It is located at an altitude of 3016 m. The lake is surrounded by a wide meadow (jailoo) and Tien Shan Mountains. Since ancient times, nomadic tribes living here used this land for summer pasture. Until now, shepherds use them to graze their livestock. Upon arrival to the yurt camp, accommodation and rest. Before dinner a few options we can go for a walk to the petroglyphs, visit a family of a local shepherd and of course you have a chance to take a stunning photos of the sunset on Son Kul. Overnight in a yurt camp.

Day 3

Son Kul – Suusamir (210 km and 6 hours)

We are driving to Susamur today. We will descend through the Kara Keche mine. Susamyr valley is located at an altitude of 2200-2600 m, its length is 100 km from west to east, the width of the valley in its widest part is 40 km. The snow cover keeps here 130-160 days a year, reaching a maximum thickness of 70 cm. The Suusamyr valley, protected by high mountains, has a unique microclimate favorable for skiing. Overnight in a yurt camp.

Day 4

Suusamir – Sary Chelek Lake, (360 km and 7 hours)

After breakfast drive to Sary Chelek lake. The lake is one of the most beautiful and picturesque high-mountain lakes of Central Asia. It is located in the west of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. Sary-Chelek is the third deepest lake in Central Asia and the second deepest in Kyrgyzstan. Sary-Chelek reserve, one of the most remarkable places in Kyrgyzstan. Part of the territory of the reserve (23.9 thousand hectares) is bounded from the north by the Chatkal Mountain Range. Here are amazingly beautiful and diverse landscapes. The main richness of these places is the walnut and fruit forests. Overnight in a house of local people.

Day 5

Sary Chelek – Kazarman, (365 km and 10/11 hours)

Today all day drive to Kazarman. Kazarman village is located in the east of Jalal-Abad region, 157 km from Jalal-Abad city. The village is located at an altitude of 1310 meters above sea level and is a popular place for travelers who want to visit the museum of rock paintings – Saimaluu Tash. You can travel to Kazarman only from mid-July to mid-August, as the first snow falls here as early as September, making it difficult to travel over the passes. Overnight in a house of local people.

Day 6

Kazarman – Tash Rabat, (296 km and about 5/6 hours)

Tash Rabat ancient caravan-sarai is waiting for us today. Upon arrival we visit ancient caravan-sarai Tash Rabat. It was built in the 12th century and was used until the end of the 14th century, it is located at an altitude 3200 meters. After visiting, a walk along the beautiful valley of Kara Kuyun. Accommodation in a yurt camp.

Day 7

Tash Rabat – Naryn, (108 km and 1,5 hours)

After breakfast drive to Naryn. The city is located in the Naryn hollow at the foot of the Naryn-Too ridge, 2000 m above sea level, on the bank of the Naryn River, at the intersection of the highway Bishkek – Torugart. The Naryn River is the main tourist attraction of the city, and it is not even about the fabulous beauty of coastal landscapes. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 8

Naryn – Bokonbaevo, (170 km and 5/6 hours)

Today in the morning we drive to Bokonbaevo. Near to Bokonbaevo, you can watch, eagle hunting show and ask your questions to a berkuchu (hunter) about keeping and training birds (optionally). Upon arrival accommodation. After lunch, if the weather permits, swimming in Issyk Kul. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 9

Bokombavo – Karakol, (140 km and 3 hours)

After breakfast drive to Karakol city the largest city of the Issyk Kul region. There we will visit Dungan mosque, built in a form of a pagoda, and Russian Orthodox church, late 19th century. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 10

Karakol – Grigorievka, (110 km and 2 hours)

Today we discover very beautiful Chon Aksu gorge (Grigorievka). There are three beautiful highland lakes in the gorge. In the first part of the gorge is the Lower Lake, higher in the area of At-Jailoo pastures (which means summer pastures) is the Middle Lake, and about 6 km from it is the most beautiful of the three lakes – the Upper Lake. Beyond this lake, at an altitude of about 3500 m, the forested areas turn into beautiful alpine meadows. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 11

Grigorievka – Chon Kemin, (196 km and 4 – 5 hours)

Transfer to Chon Kemin national Park. Upon arrival to the guest house accommodation, lunch, rest. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Located in the Chon-Kemin Valley, the national park is a unique natural complex with diverse flora and fauna and many picturesque landscapes, from semi-deserts to glaciers. The natural park occupies an area of 500 hectares, its altitude rises smoothly from 1400 to 2800 m. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 12

Chong Kemin – Bishkek, (178 km 4-5 hours)

Today, after breakfast, we are driving to Bishkek. Before Bishkek we stop in the ancient city Balasagun, one of the capitals of the Karakhanid’s state. Upon arrival to Bishkek, free time.

    Som (Kyrgyz som) is the monetary unit of the Kyrgyz Republic. One som is equal to one hundred tyyns. Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries of the former Soviet Union (and the first in post-Soviet Central Asia) to adopt its own national currency. The average exchange rate is about 85-95 KGS per dollar, or 95-105 KGS per euro. You can review the most recent exchange rate in: https://www.nbkr.kg/index.jsp?lang=ENG You can do it in a bank branch, but also in the center of Bishkek there are a huge number of exchange offices. When exchanging banknotes, they must be in very good condition and without any marks. Small denomination bills are exchanged at a slightly lower rate.
    In large cities, almost in any store you can pay for a purchase or service by credit card, but still cash is more welcome. As for the small villages and settlements, there is only cash.
    There are several mobile network operators in Kyrgyzstan. You can choose any of them: Beeline, Megacom, O! You can buy a SIM card in any shopping center, there are branches of various mobile operators. When you register you will be asked for your passport and offered the most convenient and advantageous tariff for you.
    For sure you would like to make a lot of photos and that's ok. In case of closed places or if you want to make photos to local people, ask first for permission, and remember to show a respectful attitude.
    There are mainly three types of public transport. Buses, trolleybuses and minibuses. The fee ranges from 11 to 15 som. (Less than 20 cents of euro). There is also a very good taxi service, with multiple companies and very affordable. An average trip by taxi can cost between 100 and 200 soms, that is, between 1 and 2 euros. There are shuttles between towns and cities. The cost depends on both the frequency and the distance.
    You can drive with your international permit and you can rent cars if you wish. But you can't taste a drop of alcohol. The traffic police can stop you at any roadblock and check your alcohol level. The tolerance is zero. If you have drunk, however little, you will have problems and you will have to pay a fine.
