4×4 Winter tour mixed emphasis

We are inviting you for a challenge trip by 4×4 cars. During the two week trip you will visit most famous land mark places in Kyrgyzstan. In winter time you will see wonderful landscape view in Kyrgyz Mountains. There is a chance to see Kel Suu lake closed to China border. The lake will be frozen in winter and you can also go ice skating if you have your own skates. We will make a round trip of Issyk Kul lake which is surrounded by mountains to the north the Kungei Ala Too (facing the sun) and from south the Terskey Ala Too (one who turns away from the sun).

Day 1

Arrive Bishkek.

Transfer to hotel. Resting time.
City tour. Dinner.

Day 2

Bishkek – Kyzyl Oi (via Too Asuu), (200 km)

After breakfast transfer to Kyzl Oi village which is situated on the highway Bishkek – Osh. This road connects the north and the south of the country via the Too Asuu pass (Camel Pass). Stop for quick skiing. In summer a valley opens up somewhat to form a hollow ringed by the high red-coloured mountains, which gave the place its name. Kyzyl means ‘red’ in Kyrgyz. Dinner and overnight in guest house.

Day 3

Kyzyl Oi –Naryn (260 km)

Way to Naryn through Chaek and Kyz Art villages. Ice Skating on the Kokomeren River. The length of the River is 199 km, and watershed – 10,400 m2. It is formed by the confluence of rivers Suusamyr and Karakol (west).
Dinner and overnight in Naryn, hotel.

Day 4

Naryn – Kel Suu

Early transfer to Kel Suu lake which is located in the border zone of the Naryn region in the Kok-Kya valley. The lake is considered one of the main attractions of this area. To enter to thos area we have to take border permit. The lake was formed from a strong earthquake. You can reach the lake only by jeep or Vakhtovka. The climate on the lake is rather cold. The temperature in the summer is 14-16 degrees during the day, and at night it can fall below zero.
Overnight and dinner in hunting lodge.

Day 5

Kel Suu

After breakfast opportunity to do a fascinating horse riding and make pictures of the beautiful surrounding scenery. Overnight and dinner in hunting lodge.

Day 6

Kel Suu – Naryn via Tash Rabat

Transfer to Naryn with stop at Tash Rabat the famous historical complex is a well-preserved 15th century stone caravanserai in At Bashy district, Naryn Province, located at an altitude of 3,200 meters. Tash Rabat is completely made of crushed stone on clay mortar with gypsum mortar sealing joints. Back to naryn. Resting time. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 7

Naryn – Bokonbaevo (210 km)

Way to the southern shore of Lake Issyk Kul, the Bokonbaevo village roughly in the middle of the road connecting towns Balykchi and Karakol. Village is popular among tourists with beautiful scenery, several yurt camps and traditional life of the Kyrgyz people.
On the way stop in Skazka the Fairy tale Gorge. Make nice pictures.
Overnight and dinner Kyrgyz hunters’ family. Opportunity to see the eagle hunting demonstration.

Day 8

Bokonbaevo – Karakol (135 km)

Way to Karakol city the center of the ski tourism. On the way visit the frozen waterfalls Barskoon. Barskoon waterfall is a geological protected area and located 90 km to the south-west of Karakol on one of the tributaries of Barskaun River. There are several waterfalls at the site.
Dinner and Overnight in hotel.

Day 9

Karakol

Karakol formerly name Przhevalsk during Soviet era originally founded by Russian Tsarist troops as a military outpost, and it is the resting place of Nikolai Przewalski (Przhevalskiy), the famed Polish-Russian explorer and naturalist.
Karakol is a paradise for ski lovers in winter time. The region climate is soft, is caused by influence of nonfreezing Issyk-Kul lake. Winter is warm with a soft frost. Average winter temperature is – 5С. The ski season lasts since November till April. Possibility to ski.
Dinner and Overnight in hotel.

Day 10

Karakol – Chon Kemin (305 km)

Transfer to Chon Kemin to unique place with beauty and Biodiversity Natural complex. A beautiful landscape, the largest river tracts of coniferous and mixed forests, mixed grass pastures, and rare biosensors create favorable conditions for leisure travelers.
Stay in guest house.

Day 11

Chon Kemin – Bishkek

Day 12

Depart day

End the service.

    Som (Kyrgyz som) is the monetary unit of the Kyrgyz Republic. One som is equal to one hundred tyyns. Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries of the former Soviet Union (and the first in post-Soviet Central Asia) to adopt its own national currency. The average exchange rate is about 85-95 KGS per dollar, or 95-105 KGS per euro. You can review the most recent exchange rate in: https://www.nbkr.kg/index.jsp?lang=ENG You can do it in a bank branch, but also in the center of Bishkek there are a huge number of exchange offices. When exchanging banknotes, they must be in very good condition and without any marks. Small denomination bills are exchanged at a slightly lower rate.
    In large cities, almost in any store you can pay for a purchase or service by credit card, but still cash is more welcome. As for the small villages and settlements, there is only cash.
    There are several mobile network operators in Kyrgyzstan. You can choose any of them: Beeline, Megacom, O! You can buy a SIM card in any shopping center, there are branches of various mobile operators. When you register you will be asked for your passport and offered the most convenient and advantageous tariff for you.
    For sure you would like to make a lot of photos and that's ok. In case of closed places or if you want to make photos to local people, ask first for permission, and remember to show a respectful attitude.
    There are mainly three types of public transport. Buses, trolleybuses and minibuses. The fee ranges from 11 to 15 som. (Less than 20 cents of euro). There is also a very good taxi service, with multiple companies and very affordable. An average trip by taxi can cost between 100 and 200 soms, that is, between 1 and 2 euros. There are shuttles between towns and cities. The cost depends on both the frequency and the distance.
    You can drive with your international permit and you can rent cars if you wish. But you can't taste a drop of alcohol. The traffic police can stop you at any roadblock and check your alcohol level. The tolerance is zero. If you have drunk, however little, you will have problems and you will have to pay a fine.
