Itineraries
Day 1
Bishkek (city tour).
Upon arrival to Bishkek transfer to the hotel. After the rest sightseeing tour: we discover the city center, Ala Too Square, White House, Oak Park, statues of Manas, Kurmandjan Datka, Lenin and est, Art Gallery under the open sky, Victory square, Opera and Ballet Theatre, Osh Bazar (oriental market). Lunch in a local café where you can try local food. Free time before dinner.
Day 2
Bishkek - Cholpon Ata (293 km)
After breakfast in a hotel, on the way to Cholpon-Ata, we visit Burana tower (beginning of 11 century), the minaret of ancient city Balasagun, local museum, and also balbals (memorial monuments). Demonstration of Kyrgyz national horse games in Don-Aryk village (Ulak -Tartush, Tuin Enmey, At Chabush, Oodarush). Lunch with a local Kyrgyz family. Continue driving to Cholpon-Ata visiting an open-air museum of Petroglyphs (II BC - VIII AD).
Day 3
Cholpon Ata – Karakol (154 km)
After breakfast transfer to Karakol. 10 km before Karakol visiting museum, grave, and monument of Przhevalsky (greatest scientist and traveler of the 19th century). Lunch in a local café in Karakol, city tour around Karakol visiting mosque made in a Chinese style, Russian Orthodox Church and antique shop. Accommodation in a guest house. Dinner in a local Uighur or Dungan family, before dinner lagman/or similar show, the hostess will teach us how to make handmade noodles.
Day 4
Karakol – Kochkor (259 km)
We continue our journey right after breakfast, today we will cover 259 km by the Southern Shore of Issyk Kul Lake. On the way we visit Jety–Oguz gorge with its “Broken Heart and Seven Oxen” and discover legend about it and also Skazka canyon, with its incredible different color lunar landscape. Eagle hunting show will be demonstrated near Bokonbaevo village. The hunter will show and tell us how he trained his birds. Lunch with a family in Bokonbaevo. Upon arrival to Kochkor dinner and overnight in guesthouse.
Day 5
Kochkor – Bishkek (196 km)
After breakfast demonstration of making felt carpets, you also take part in this process. After carpet show you have the opportunity to visit a souvenir shop, your purchases will help local women earn some money. Transfer to Bishkek, lunch un route. Upon arrival accommodation in a hotel and rest. Free time.
Day 6
Bishkek – Almaty (234 km)
In the morning drive to Kyrgyz - Kazakh border “Ak-Zol”, after all the formalities drive to Almaty. The first place we visit upon arrival to Almaty will be Panfilov Park. The Park was founded just some years later then Almaty, we start the city tour from Zenkof Cathedral, then see 2nd World War Memorial and then Museum of Kazakh Traditional Instruments, where we acquaintance with “Dombra” and find out how it differs from “Kobuz”. Lunch in “Kaganat” or similar. After lunch we visit Central Square, it was the main square of the country before Nur Sultan became the capital. The monument of Independence which represents the Golden Man standing on a winged snow leopard. Our next stop is Central State Museum, the largest in the country which contains a huge number of exhibits. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 7
Almaty- Charyn canyon – Almaty (440 km)
After breakfast transfer to Charyn canyon. It is a canyon on Charyn River in Kazakhstan (200 km east of Almaty, close to the Chinese border). The canyon is something about 90 km. It is much smaller than the Grand Canyon, but also quite impressive. During our walk in a canyon when we reach river, we find a good place for picnic lunch. Upon arrival rest in a hotel.
Day 8
Almaty - Chimkent (681 km)
Today we are going to take early morning flight to Chimkent. The flight will take us one and half an hour. Upon arrival breakfast in a local café. Chimkent is the third largest city in Kazakhstan with the population close to one million. During a city tour we will visit Museum of Victims of Political repressions or Historical museum (what will be open), then Zoo and finally Abai Park. During city tour lunch in a local café. Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner in a local café.
Day 9
Chimkent – Turkestan (206 km)
After breakfast we transfer to Turkestan town, upon arrival lunch in a local café. Turkestan is one of the oldest town on the territory of Kazakhstan, was founded in 5 century. Before 10 century it had a name Shavkar, then later, since 12 century Yassy. After lunch accommodation in a hotel, some rest and then transfer to the ruins of Sauran. At the moment, archaeological work continues on the territory of the Sauran settlement and various restoration projects are being created under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is an exceptional place worth visiting to see the picturesque ruins of the ancient city. Dinner in a local café, overnight in a hotel.
Day 10
Turkestan – Otyrar - Turkestan (188 km)
After breakfast transfer to archeological site Otyrar. Turar, Otrar, Farab – before Mongol invasion one of the largest cities in Central Asia, now a settlement in the Otyrar district of the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan. 57 km south of the city of Turkestan. After visiting this historical site transfer back to Turkestan. Lunch in a local café. Afternoon visit to the mausoleum of Ahmet Yasaui which was built by the grand conqueror Timur. Overnight in a hotel, dinner in a local café.
Day 11
Turkestan – Tashkent (296 km)
Early in the morning after breakfast departure to Kazakh-Uzbek border. End of the tour.
