Itineraries

Day 1

Airport – Bishkek (city tour) - Ala Archa (National Park) (110 km).

Upon arrival to Bishkek transfer to the hotel. After the rest sightseeing tour: we discover the city center, Ala Too Square, White House, Oak Park, statues of Manas, Kurmandjan Datka, Lenin and est., Art Gallery under the open sky, Victory square, Opera and Ballet Theatre, Osh Bazar (oriental market). Lunch in a local café where you can try local food. After lunch transfer to the National Park Ala Archa, you have a chance to breathe with a fresh year, and enjoy the beautiful nature. Upon arrival welcome dinner.

Day 2

Bishkek - Kochkor (196 km).

Today after breakfast we go to Kochkor, on the way, we visit Burana tower (beginning of 11 century), the minaret of ancient city Balasagun, local museum, and also balbals (memorial monuments). Our next stop is Konorchek canyon, duration of the hike is 2 hours, we will find a nice place there for lunch. Then continue our way to Kochkor, upon arrival accommodation in a guest house. Demonstration of making felt carpets. Dinner and overnight in a guest house.

Day 3

Kochkor – Son Kul (100 km).

Today drive to the remote mountainous lake Son-Kul 3016 m. Upon arrival accommodation and lunch in a yurt camp. Son Kul is the second largest lake of Kyrgyzstan, located on a high mountain plateau. Shepherds bring its livestock to here for summer time. Horseback riding in the afternoon. Dinner in a yurt camp.

Day 4

Son Kul – Kyzyl OI (via Kara Keche) (140 km).

After breakfast in a yurt camp transfer to Kyzyl Oi village. Our way will go thought the coal deposit Kara Keche. Kyzyl Oi village is located on the bank of Kokomeren river which is formed by the confluence, of Susamur and Western Karakol rivers. Because of the color of water, Kokomeren if often called a “green river”. Upon arrival accommodation in a house of local people. Before dinner cooking show: hospitable hosts show us how to make borsoks, and also local school children will organize folklore show for us.

Day 5

Kyzyl-Oi - Kok Bel (Toktogul reservoir) (260 km).

After breakfast transfer to Toktogul reservoir one of the largest in Central Asia located in Jalal Abad region. The area of this human made lake is something 300 square km. It takes water of Naryn River. The color of the water and color of the surrounded mountains creates unforgettable landscape. Along the way we will take a few photo stops. Upon arrival accommodation in a hotel lunch and free time. If the weather permits, you will be able to swim in the lake. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6

Kok Bel (Toktogul reservoire) – Osh (269 km).

After breakfast we leave that beautiful place and continue our journey to Osh. We are going to stop at Uzgen town (second capital of Karahanid’s) where we visit historical complex of Karahanid period which consist of three minarets and one tower (dated 11 -12 century AD). After leaving Uzgen in one hour we finally reach Osh city (southern capital of Kyrgyzstan). Accommodation in a hotel.

Day 7

Osh

Today the whole day we will devote to Osh, it is the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan. Also, it is the oldest city in the country (its history more than 3000 years). During the city tour we are going to visit Suleiman Too Mountain, museum (which is in the middle of that mountain), Central Square with the monument of Lenin and Russian Orthodox Church. Lunch in a local café dinner in a local Uzbek family. Accommodation in a hotel.

Day 8

Osh - Kokand (200 km).

Today we are finishing the first part of our tour and going to Uzbekistan. Uzbek border is just a few km from Osh, after going through all the formalities, we will be met by a guide and driver on the Uzbek side. Three hours way to Kokand (in 18 and 19 century capital of Kokand Khaganate). Upon arrival we visit the palace of Hudoyar Khan and architectural complex Dzami. Accommodation and overnight in a hotel.

Day 9

Kokand – Tashkent (237 km).

In the morning after breakfast transfer to Tashkent. Upon arrival to Tashkent accommodation in a hotel some rest. Today you will visit one of the oldest bazaar in the city “Chorsu”. Then we take Tashkent metro to the center, where Amir Timur Square, independence Square and the Museum of applied Arts are located. Lunch and dinner in a local restaurants.

Day 10

Tashkent - Khiva (1093 km).

After breakfast we continue our city tour in Tashkent. Today, we visit the Old City, where the religious center of Tashkent is located – the Khast- Imam complex. The famous Koran of Caliph Osman (7th century) is kept here. In Khast-Imam, you will visit the Barak-Khan Madrasah, the Tilla-Sheikh Mosque, the Kaffal Shashi Masoleum and the Imam al-Bukhari Islamic Institute. Transfer to the local airport for a flight to Urgench at 20.25 (1093 km, 1h 30 min). Arrival at Urgench airport at 21.55. Meeting and transfer to Khiva (35 km, 40 min). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11

Khiva – Buhara (345 km).

Today after breakfast you will visit the Ichan-Kala fortress, included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Visit to the Muhammad Amirkhan madrasah, the Muhammad Rakhimkhan madrasah, the Kalta-Minor madrasah, the Juma mosque, the Tash-Khovli palace, the Pakhlavan Mahmud mausoleum. Try to climb the Islam-Khoja minaret – the tallest minaret in Uzbekistan. Enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of old Khiva from the Kunya-Ark observation deck. At 19.00 transfer to Urgench airport for a flight to Bukhara at 21.00. Arrival at 22.00 Meeting at Bukhara airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12

Bukhara

Full day guided tours of the Old Town. Visiting the Lyabi-Hauz complex, the Magoki Attori mosque, the Chor-Minor madrasah, the Kalyan minaret, the Kayan mosque and the Miri-Arab madrasah, the Ulugbek madrasah and the Abdulazizkhan madrasah, the Ark ofortress, the Bolo-Khauz mosque, the Samanid mausoleum and the Chashma masoleum Ayub. Show at Nadir Divan-Begi madrasah. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13

Bukhara – Samarkand (270 km).

After breakfast we are going to visit the summer residence of the last emir of Bukhara – Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa. Our next place for visit will be the mausoleum of Bahouddin Naqshbandi – the founder of the Sufi order of Naqshbandiyya. Transfer to the railway station at 14.40. The Afrosiab train leaves for Samarkand at 15.52 and arrives 17.25 (270 km). Meeting at the station and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 14

Samarkand

Today after breakfast we will visit the famous Registan Square, Bibi-Khanum cathedral mosque, also Siab Bazaar, where you can buy oriental sweets and souvenirs. In addition, you will visit the observatory of Ulugbek, the Shahi-Zinda mausoleum ensemble and Gur-Emir mausoleum – the tomb of Amir Timur and Timurids. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 15

Samarkand -Tashkent (300 km).

Today after breakfast we continue our excursion in Samarkand. We visit the tomb of Saint Daniel. Then a trip to the village of Konigil, where we will see the process of making Samarkand’s paper from mulberry according to an old technology. At 16.30 transfer to the railway station. The high-speed “Afrosiab” leaves for Tashkent at 17.30 (300 km) and arrives at 19.40. Here you will be met and taken to a hotel.

Day 16

Tashkent

End of the tour. Departure from the hotel before noon.
