Itineraries
Day 1
Airport – Bishkek (30 km)
Upon arrival to Bishkek transfer to the hotel. After some rest sightseeing tour during it we will see the most significant places of Bishkek.
Day 2
Bishkek city – Cholpon-Ata town (300 km).
On the way to Cholpon-Ata, we visit Burana tower (beginning of 11 century), the minaret of ancient city Balasagun, local museum, and also balbals (memorial monuments). Demonstration of Kyrgyz national horse games in Don-Aryk village (Ulak -Tartush, Tuin Enmey, At Chabush, Oodarush). Continue driving to Cholpon-Ata visiting an open-air museum of Petroglyphs (II BC - VIII AD).
Day 3
Cholpon-Ata town – Karakol town (150 km).
After breakfast transfer to Karakol. 10 km before Karakol visiting museum, grave, and monument of Przhevalsky (greatest scientist and traveler of the 19th century). City tour around Karakol visiting mosque made in a Chinese style, Russian Orthodox Church and antique shop. Dinner in a local Uigur or Dungan family, before dinner lagman/or similar show, the hostess will teach us how to make handmade noodles.
Day 4
Karakol - Altyn Arashan – Karakol (60 km).
Right after breakfast drive to Altyn Arashan gorge, for this trip we are going to use Russian UAZ. Drive up is very beautiful but road is quite difficult. “Altyn” in Kyrgyz language means “gold” “arashan” means hot springs. You have a chance to take hot thermal (sulfur) bath (looks very soviet and old) or instead of that walk along river valley (altitude approximately 3000 m.).
Day 5
Karakol – Bokonbaevo – Kochkor (260 km)
Today we will cover 260 km by the Southern Shore of Issyk Kul Lake. On the way visit Skazka canyon, with incredible different color lunar landscape. Eagle hunting show will be demonstrated near Bokonbaevo village. The hunter will show and tell us how he trained his birds. Lunch with a family in Bokonbaevo. Next stop in Kochkor village for demonstration of making felt carpets, you also take part in this process. After carpet show you have the opportunity to visit a souvenir shop.
Day 6
Kochkor – Tash Rabat (240 km)
After breakfast drive to the ancient Great Silk Road caravan-serai Tash - Rabat (it was constructed in 12 century as a caravan-serai on the site of an older construction). Upon arrival explore the area.
Day 7
Tash-Rabat- Son-Kul (260 km)
After breakfast drive to the remote mountainous lake Son-Kul 3016 m. Upon arrival accommodation in a yurt camp, lunch and then explore the area. Son Kul is the second largest lake of Kyrgyzstan, located on a high mountain plateau. Shepherds bring its livestock to here for summer time.
Day 8
Son-Kul- Bishkek (350 km)
In the morning spend some time at the lake. After this we will drive back to Bishkek. Luch en route. Upon arrival have free time. Farewell dinner.
Day 9
Bishkek – Airport (30 km)
Drive to the airport. End of the tour.
